What is the Asr Gate app?

Asr Gate is a complete Islamic app for the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, made purely for the sake of Allah as an ongoing charity for the soul of the late Muhammad Ibrahim Eldesouky, may Allah envelop him in His mercy. It includes group khatmas, Quran audio, prayer times and adhan, hadith, tafsir, Islamic radio, a tasbeeh counter, adhkar and the Qibla.

Is the app free?

Yes. The app is completely free, with no fees or subscriptions, and was made as an ongoing charity for the sake of Allah.

How do I take part in group khatmas?

You can create a new khatma or join an existing one through its share link. The link belongs to the khatma's creator, who sends it to whoever they want to join.

Can I read and listen to the Quran offline?

Reading the Mushaf works offline. Listening to recitations needs a connection, but you can download recitations in advance to listen offline.

Which platforms is the app available on?

It is available on the App Store for iPhone, Google Play for Android, and Huawei AppGallery for Huawei devices.

How do I share verses and hadith as images?

Tap a verse or hadith and choose to share it as an image. You can select several verses and combine them in one image, add the tafsir, pick a theme for the image, then share it or save it straight to your gallery.

What are the home-screen widgets?

Widgets that show prayer times with a live countdown to the next prayer, plus the verse of the day, in three sizes (small, medium, large) that show more information as they grow. Available now on Android, coming soon to iPhone.

Is the full adhan available on iPhone?

On Android you can turn on the full adhan and choose your muezzin, and it plays at prayer time even when the app is closed. On iPhone, Apple limits notification sounds to 30 seconds and doesn't let apps play audio in the background at a set time, so you receive the short adhan notification instead.

Which languages are available? Is there a dark mode?

The app supports eight languages: Arabic, English, German, Amharic, Malay, Portuguese, Turkish and Russian. It has a light theme and a dark theme in calm blue tones.

Can I customize prayer times?

Times are calculated automatically from your location or current city, and can't be adjusted manually for now.

Does the app send notifications?

Yes: an adhan notification, a reminder before prayer, and daily adhkar reminders. You can control each type from the notifications page inside the app.
